slushies and diet slushies!

i posted the recipe for slushies this summer, but after going through about 20 packets of koolaid this month making slushies, i knew this recipe needed to be revisited.  my husband and i started having evening slushies and this recipe for diet slushies evolved from our evening slushie addiction. it's a quick, sweet, (now guiltless) treat. i still prefer them fully loaded, but using half splenda really cuts the sugar down. using all splenda works too, but it is harder to blend. (you have to pulse the blender, stirring after each pulse.)

diet slushies!

2 cups ice water
1 packet kool aid drink mix
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup splenda
4 cups ice

put all of the ingredients into your blender. it will be about 2/3 full. put the lid on. process the mixture on high for a full minute. Stop the blender, use a spoon to stir it a bit. look for unchopped ice chunks. if all the chunks are grated up, then go ahead and serve it. you may need to process it for another full minute. Blending it longer gives a smoother slushie consistency. Serve immediately. i usually have to spoon this out of the blender with a measuring cup because the mixture is so thick.

not for white shirted children. send them outside to eat these. and enjoy the peace in the house with a cold slushie for yourself!

slushies!
recipe from hillbilly housewife
2 cups ice water
1 packet kool aid
2/3 cup sugar
4 cups ice cubes

put all of the ingredients into your blender. it will be about 2/3 full. put the lid on. process the mixture on high for a full minute. Stop the blender, use a spoon to stir it a bit. look for unchopped ice chunks. if all the chunks are grated up, then go ahead and serve it. you may need to process it for another full minute. *you can use any flavor kool aid that makes your heart sing. this makes 4 - 8oz servings, for about 25 cents for the whole batch!

  1. I haven't tried this yet, but when I looked at the picture and read the recipe, my mouth actually, literally started to water. It's still watering as I write this. I think I'm just really hot and thirsty and this sounds really good! Thanks for the great idea!
